Introducing HDUK Urgency & Enterocolitis Alert Cards

We’ve created Hirschsprung’s Disease UK urgency and enterocolitis alert cards to support individuals and families living with Hirschsprung’s disease.

These cards are designed for everyday situations where you may need to explain the condition quickly, particularly where urgent access to toilet facilities or when you need a reminder of those important symptoms of Enterocolitis. 

For many people, this is something that can be difficult to explain in the moment. These cards provide a simple, clear way to communicate that need.

Each set includes:

• a wallet-sized card
• a key tag

They are designed to be carried day-to-day and used whenever needed.

Why we created them

Through conversations with families, it’s clear that there are practical challenges that come with living with Hirschsprung’s disease that aren’t always recognised or understood by others.

This includes:

• needing urgent access to a toilet
• explaining the condition quickly in public spaces
• reminding ourselves of the seriousness of enterocolitis

These cards are one small, practical step towards making those situations easier to manage.

Who are they for?

These cards are available for individuals living with Hirschsprung’s disease and parents and carers of children with Hirschsprung’s disease.

They are suitable for use in a range of settings, including:

• public places
• schools and nurseries
• travel
• healthcare environments
